Full-Stack Engineer (Mission Engineering)

What will you be doing?

As a Full-Stack Engineer in our Mission Engineering team, you will be working on a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting clients from across Defence, National Security, Public Sector and Commercial organisations to apply AI and solve complex problems. Our focus is on pushing the boundaries of where AI can enable decision advantage for our customers. This often relates to Natural Language Processing, but rarely exclusively.

No day is ever the same. Your responsibilities will range across the spectrum of customer engagement and project delivery. You will be expected to operate comfortably across multiple projects and workstreams.

Job requirements

What do you need?

You should have experience of both front-end and back-end ecosystems including but not limited to:

  • Familiarity with back-end languages, including Golang and Python.
  • Designing and building with microservice architecture.
  • Familiarity with back-end concepts and tooling, including unit and integration testing, message queries, scalability & asynchronous programming
  • Familiarity with front-end languages, including Typescript and React.
  • Familiarity with front-end concepts and tooling, including state management, routing, accessibility, responsive design, web servers, authentication, and testing.
  • API design and implementation using GraphQL, gRPC or REST
  • Working with databases, including PostgreSQL and OpenSearch.
  • Container orchestration tools, including Kubernetes.
  • Operating as a lead/principal engineer.
  • Mentoring fellow engineers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working with Agile processes.


Desirable experience

  • Natural Language Processing.
  • Designing and building micro front ends.
  • Using visualisation libraries, e.g., D3, Reagraph.
  • End to end testing, e.g., Cypress, Playwright.
  • SC (Security Clearance) cleared, with BPSS as a minimum.


Hybrid working pattern

Please note that this is a hybrid role with the expectation that you can be in London two days a week. 


Interview Process


Getting to know you:

In the first call, let our recruiter learn about you and your story to check a potential fit for Adarga. This is also a chance for you to ask first questions about the role and company.


Phone Interview:

In this meeting, you will meet with a Senior member of our team who will take a deeper dive into the technical aspects of the Senior Software Engineer role here at Adarga, where you can expect some high-level technical questions, competency-based questions, and another chance to ask any questions you have.


Technical Interview:

In this meeting, you will work with your potential team members on a technical challenge. A Peer Programming Exercise completed with two of our senior team members.


Final Interview:

You made it to the very last stage! Here we will look to gain a better understanding of your experience to date, a chance to walk through your experience, the role you played at the company, different projects that were worked on and the impact you had and give you an opportunity to see the wider team during an informal talk.
